OITNB Star Dascha Polanco Walks Away Almost Scot-Free As The Assault Charges From A Teenager Are DROPPED!

dascha polanco charges dropped
Case closed… sort of!
On Wednesday, Orange Is the New Black actress Dascha Polanco stopped by the Manhattan Criminal Court in order to face off against the 18 year old who accused her of assault.
In case you forgot, Michelle Cardona accused the Netflix star of beating her in July of 2015 in her Upper Manhattan home. Yikes!

However, it seems like this matter has finally been put to rest as the District Attorney’s Office dismissed the case due to the “lack of stating the truth and relevant evidence.” Not to mention, Dascha’s team supplied some decent evidence pointing at the youngster’s attempt to extort the 33 year old.
Miz Polanco’s lawyer, Gerald B. Lefcourt added:

“From the start, Ms. Polanco has denied the allegations and we have said that the charges should be dismissed. We are pleased that after a thorough investigation and review of the actual evidence, the District Attorney’s Office has done the right thing and agreed to dismiss the case against Ms. Polanco.”

Now that’s what we like to hear! He continued:

“It is clear to us that the so-called victim was motivated by the prospects of a payday. She devised a plan to have Ms. Polanco pay her to withdraw the charges, which was furthered by a campaign of harassment directed at Ms. Polanco and her family and jeopardized their safety. Fortunately, we had irrefutable evidence of the complainant’s misdeeds on tape, including her extortion attempts, which was provided to the District Attorney’s Office.”

However, it’s been reported that the Dominican American artist needs to keep out of trouble for six whole months before these charges can be permanently expunged. Still, that’s quite the slap on the wrist!
The attorney concluded:

“Ms. Polanco is delighted to be able finally to put this matter behind her and refocus her energies on her family, and her career.”

We’re just happy to see that this legal drama didn’t drag on. Phew!
