Excelsior! The Marvel train just keeps on rolling!
Marvel announced today that they have started principal photography in Atlanta on Captain America: Civil War and with this came a couple other major announcements.
One of which was the HUGE cast list for the film that has a TON of Marvel favorites returning for what might as well be Avengers 3! Among the Marvel alum coming back for Cap 3 is Paul Rudd! That’s right, shortly after Rudd’s debut as Ant-Man — Marvel’s next flick opening July 17, 2015 — Rudd will be joining up with the super team for this epic star studded flick!

Other cast members that will be in the movie include: Chris Evans as Captain America, Robert Downey, Jr. as Iron Man, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie playing the Falcon, Paul Bettany as Vision, Jeremy Renner reprising as Hawkeye, Don Cheadle suiting up as War Machine, Elizabeth Olsen fresh off Avengers 2 as Scarlet Witch, Frank Grillo as Brock Rumlow, Emily VanCamp as Agent 13, and introducing Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther as Daniel Brühl as Baron Zemo and Frank Grillo as Brock Rumlow!
To add to the surprises, William Hurt — who hasn’t been in a Marvel film since 2008’s Incredible Hulk — will also be returning to reprise his role as General “Thunderbolt” Ross. Oh and don’t forget about the recent addition of Martin Freeman in an unspecified role!
Along with the never ending list of A-list cast members, Marvel also released the official plot synopsis for the film:

Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.

With a cast list arguably more exciting than either of the Avengers movies, and a promise of a “new team of Avengers” we can’t wait to see it all come together!

What do you think, are you as stoked as we are? Or do you think they’re trying to cram too much into one film?
Either way, we’ll have to wait until May 6, 2016 for Marvel to bring us the next big adventure from Cap and crew!
