While the shut down of the Beverly Hills studio isn’t too surprising considering Richards hasn’t visited the space in TWO YEARS, it’s still hard to part ways with such a special landmark. We always hoped the health guru would come out of hiding to grace fans with his presence once again!
Elaborating on his bittersweet decision, Simmons explained:

“In 1974 I opened Slimmons as a way to help people make positive changes in their lives by having fun while exercising. It was a place to make friends, listen to and learn from others, lose weight and gain confidence. These were all the reasons I went to Slimmons too!”

Well, at least the 68-year-old helped SO many people for a three decades — that’s a lot of SWEAT!
Speaking of sweat, the beloved icon still hopes his fans will continue to work HARD to achieve their best selves, even if it’s not at Slimmons.
The El Lay resident went on to implore his dedicated supporters:

“Over the years thousands came to laugh and sweat with me. The world and what we know about nutrition and fitness may have changed a lot since then, but the lessons shared in that little studio still apply. I’ve dedicated my life to helping others feel better about themselves and they helped me to do the same. Thank you for always supporting and loving me. I will take the time for myself to be the best I can be and so should you. I love you — always keep sweatin’!”

Aww, we couldn’t think of a better way to end the studio’s run! What a sweet and genuine message.
In addition to Simmons’ sad goodbye, his manager Michael Catalano also had some emotional words for fans:

“Slimmons was truly a reflection of all things Richard — one-of-a-kind, authentic, inspiring. While the studio is closing, Richard is so happy about the great friendships and lasting memories that were created there over the years.”

Preach, Michael! We’ll always have the memories!
As for Richard’s health and mental state, we’ll just have to trust he’s doing okay. The fitness legend has repeatedly shut down rumors about his well-being since vanishing from the spotlight and entering a hospital for “dehydration” this past summer.
So, are you disappointed by the studio’s closing?
