Hollywood has lost another great actor.
On Thursday, it was revealed that Rocky star Tony Burton passed away at 78-years-old. How sad!
Burton’s cause of death has yet to be revealed, but his sister Loretta Kelly shared that the former boxer had been in and out of the hospital several times this past year.

In case you forgot, Tony was best known for playing Sylvester Stallone and Carl Weather‘s characters’ trainer Tony “Duke” Evers in the popular film franchise. Not to mention, it’s said that the Hook actor was so ill that he was unable to see the franchise’s spin-off movie Creed.
Carl has since taken to Twitter to express his sorrow in losing his former costar. He wrote:
@E_Woodyard @TheSlyStallone Sad news. RIP Tony Burton. His intensity and talent helped make the Rocky movies successful. #BePeace

Tissues, anyone?
Of course, Mr. Weathers isn’t the only one to mourn Burton’s loss as several fans have taken to the social media site to pay tribute (below) to the on-screen trainer.

Outside of the boxing movies, Tony was also known as a former champ as he took home two Flint Golden Gloves light heavyweight titles before becoming a professional fighter for a bit. Wow!
Our thoughts are with Tony’s family during this trying time.
