‘s battle with stage four cervical cancer continues to break out heart.
On Monday, Rory Feek shared an emotional update about his wife’s health as she continues to fight her diagnosis in hospice care. Naturally, the blog post was hard to read but its conclusion left us feeling inspired and thankful.
In the message, Rory describes a sad moment after he showed Joey a picture of their neighbor’s child riding a horse. The little girl is close in age to their daughter Indiana who will turn one on February 17.

Read Feek’s moving words retelling (below):

“I read the caption out loud and Joey said, ‘let me see’. And she took my phone and stared at the photo ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ so proud of Scout. Then suddenly her hands started shaking and she closed her eyes and started sobbing. I wasn’t sure what had happened ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ what the pain was that she was feeling ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ so I tried to put my arms around her and asked, ‘what’s wrong’, and then through her tears, she said the words├óΓé¼┬ªthe ones I knew she felt, but she had never said before ├óΓé¼┬ªthe words that are the hardest, most-difficult part of all that she, and we, are going through: ‘I want to raise our baby’, she cried, and her tears fell harder├óΓé¼┬ª ‘I want to be the one to teach her’.”

Ugh. How crushing. We can’t even begin to imagine the couple’s pain and loss.
While the moment was tragic, the mood was uplifted when the singer spotted the season’s first snowfall. The country crooner recalled:

“And then, just like that ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ over my shoulder, through the window she saw it├óΓé¼┬ª Snow. It was snowing. Huge white flakes were falling from above. And a small smile came across her face. Then a bigger one.”

So special. We’re glad Joey got to enjoy a scene we too often take for granted.
