Samantha Markle has slithered back into the public eye to share her thoughts on the birth of Meghan Markle’s baby boy!
As we reported, the Duchess of Sussex’s estranged family has been coming out of the woodwork to address the news of the royal baby’s birth. While some family members, like Meg’s father Thomas Markle, were uncharacteristically classy with their statements, others, like her half-brother Thomas Markle Jr., offered much shadier sentiments.
But one Markle still remained: how did the Suits alum’s hypercritical half-sister feel about this joyous news?

Historically, the 54-year-old has said vile things about Prince Harry’s wife — whom she once memorably called the “Duchass” — for how Meg allegedly treated their father over the years. So, many were expecting her comments on the royal baby’s birth to be just as groan-inducing.
Well, Samantha commented on the royal birth on Tuesday — and her words were actually quite uplifting and supportive… until they weren’t.
Speaking with DailyMailTV, the Virginia Beach resident said she was delighted to be an auntie again and hopes to one day meet her new nephew — whom she believes will “probably” grow up “to be an exceptional man.” She said:
“Well I love it! I’m already an aunt and am lucky enough to have Thomas and Tyler as my nephews. I spent a lot of time with them when they were babies and I love them. Family is family…. We’re all welcoming the baby – Markles, Raglands, Sussexes, Windsors. In terms of the gene pool, we’ve all made a contribution to this wonderful little boy who will probably grow up to be an exceptional man and we’d like to treat this as if we’re all a big family.”
Wow! Is this the same Samantha Markle!? This does not sound like the shade-throwing half sibling we’ve come to know and loathe.
Well, Bitter Samantha quickly resurfaced when she went from sending a nice message to calling for Meghan to use this occasion to reconnect with their 74-year-old father.
Noting that “life is too short” for the family to remain estranged, the aunt-of-three declared that “it is Meghan’s turn” to make the effort to reconnect because the other Markles have already tried to do so. She continued:
“What I think is incredible is that it’s a great moment historically and although the adults have a lot of water under the bridge, I would really like to see everyone reach out. We’ve extended the olive branch and now it is Meghan’s turn.”
Ah… there’s our shady Samantha! Sure, it’s a classier, subtle shade she’s serving — but it’s shade nonetheless.
She had plenty more of it, too. While acknowledging that she was “really excited” for her “baby sister” to be a mom, Samantha insisted that Meghan has to do “the right thing” and let her newborn son meet the Markles, adding:
“I just want to say, Meg, you’ve got a world here and a family here [in the US] that’s excited for you… It would be nice not to react to what we’ve heard in the news but to personally meet him and let him judge us for himself.”
Anything’s possible! Fortunately for Samantha, the royal baby has a good few years before he develops judgement skills — which gives her plenty of time to stop bad-mouthing the Duchess to the press.
In the meantime, Samantha hopes that Meghan comes to her senses and allows Thomas Sr. to meet his grandson, continuing:
“I would really love him to be a part of the baby’s life. But more than that, Meg is his baby too. I want Meg to be part of his life, I want Meg to be able to share this beautiful time with him in whatever way she can. I think it’s important for her too. I hope something sticks with her – that she decides to do the right thing for my dad. Life is short and we’re family. I hope she decides to do the right thing this time.”
She’s right about one thing: family is family. But saying that it’s Meghan’s obligation to detoxify the family is kind of ridiculous.
Not to mention, momma’s kind of busy at the moment…
