Stella McCartney Under Fire For Saying Strong Women Are 'Not Terribly Attractive'

This could’ve been worded better.
Actually, this whole thing has us confused.
Stella McCartney has found herself under criticism for remarks made after her spring 2015 presentation in Paris this week, where she said that strong women are often viewed as being unattractive.
Her exact words were:

“Strength on its own in a woman is quite aggressive and not terribly attractive all the time. This collection is really celebrating the gentle side.”

Which is odd because she also characterized her show as having “a strong feminine attitude.” Plus, several media outlets writing about the collection called it a “girl-power” show.
Contradictory much?
We’ve definitely been left scratching our heads!
Critics of Stella’s comments have said that the designer is reinforcing the patriarchal idea that women shouldn’t be strong and assertive, but instead fit into a narrow feminine ideal, particularly that of a mother and wife.

Maybe Stella just didn’t articulate herself well in this case because we’d be willing to bet that she believes herself to be a strong woman.
You don’t get to be the head of a multimillion-dollar brand without being strong!
