So sad.
There’s now at least one face to all the tragedy that happened early this morning at SXSW.
A man drove through a DWI checkpoint and plowed into a crowd left 23 injured and 2 dead at 12:30am, and since then one of the victims has been identified as MassiveMusic employee Steven Craenmehr from Amsterdam.
MassiveMusic posted this one mournful statement on their website:
“It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our close friend and colleague Steven Craenmehr, 35, on March 13th, 2014 at SXSW. During the 8 years that Steven worked for MassiveMusic, we got to know him as an unstoppable force, full of life, love and laughter. This is an irreplaceable loss for the MassiveMusic family and we are grateful for the years we spent with him. Our thoughts are with Steven’s family and friends.”
Meanwhile, the woman who was struck and killed on a moped in the Austin vehicular homicide has not been ID’ed yet.
However, the suspect in question has been identified as Rashad Charjuan Owens, who was taken into custody this morning and will reportedly face 2 counts of capital murder and 23 counts of aggravated assault.
So much needless violence. Our hearts go out to Steven’s family at this time.
