Tesla May Need To Call Uber's Lawyer! STAT!

tesla sexual harrasment lawsuit
Uber‘s not the only company with SERIOUS sexual harassment issues!
Amid the accusations that the ride sharing company ignored one employee’s sexual harassment and sexism complaints, a female staffer at Tesla has come forward accusing Elon Musk‘s company of doing the exact same thing! Tsk, tsk.

According to reports, AJ Vandermeyden filed a lawsuit against the automaker company last year and has claimed that the business has a culture of “pervasive harassment.” To make matters worse, Vandermeyden alleges Tesla not only paid her less than men doing the same job as her, but also promoted less qualified men for positions she was well suited for. Supposedly, after going to HR, AJ was met with retaliation.
During a candid chat with the Guardian, the Tesla employee explained:

“Until somebody stands up, nothing is going to change. I’m an advocate of Tesla. I really do believe they are doing great things. That said, I can’t turn a blind eye if there’s something fundamentally wrong going on.”

Preach, girl! In the four years AJ has been at the celebrated electric car manufacturer, she was often the only woman in meetings which had around 50 people in attendance. Whoa.
Even though Vandermeyden and her female peers often caught mistakes made by male engineers, they were looked over for promotions. In her lawsuit she called the work environment “unwelcome” and said she had to deal with constant “inappropriate language, whistling, and catcalls” from her male coworkers. How awful!
While Tesla has chosen not to address AJ’s lawsuit directly, a spokesperson DID note there was more the company could do to “promote diversity.” Still, they added:

“As with any company with more than 30,000 employees, it is inevitable that there will be a small number of individuals who make claims against the company, but that does not mean those claims have merit.”

Seems like pretty non-answer to us. Hopefully these women will get the justice they deserve sometime in the near future!
