Got Cha! First Video Footage Taken Of Rare African Gold Cat

So purdy!!

This super rare — possibly one of a kind — footage was taken by graduate student, Laila Bahaa-el-din (yeah, we know but let’s move past it), in Gabon.

The African golden cat is one of the least known and “most elusive” animals in the world. Excluding the animals still undiscovered by humans – those are the trickiest!

The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, says the African Golden Cat is:

“listed as Near Threatened as it seems reasonable to believe that the species could have declined on the order of 20% over the course of the last 15 years across its range, due mainly to the impact of habitat loss, hunting and loss of prey base.”
