The Emotional Reason Princess Catherine Wore Purple To Wimbledon

Here's Why Princess Catherine Wore Purple To Wimbledon

Princess Catherine sported a bold color choice when she made her big public appearance at Wimbledon — and the reasons why are so sweet!

As we previously reported, Kate Middleton attended the Wimbledon Men’s Singles Final alongside her daughter Princess Charlotte on Sunday. It was great to see her looking so cheery amid her cancer battle — and stylish! She was sporting one strikingly beautiful dress! See the vibrant ‘fit for yourself (below):

It turns out the beautiful color was seemingly a nod to quite a few things! The choice of such a bold look — a Safiyaa-branded A-line dress btw — was supposedly in honor of Queen Elizabeth, as wearing bright colors was one of her favorite things to do. The choice of color was likely a nod to the colors of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, of which Kate is a patron. But that’s not all…

Bethan Holt, who is the Fashion Director of the Daily Telegraph, told People on Monday the color also symbolizes something very near and dear to the 42-year-old and her family during these times:

“Kate has a history of choosing clever, whimsical themes for her Wimbledon looks, and this was a new one. Wearing purple underlines how important that role is to her and why she chose this event to make her second public appearance of the year. It’s also the color of courage, which could be a nod to what she is going through.”

Courage! Aww!

The style expert went on to say the Princess of Wales was positively “glowing” and touched on how seeing her out and about with her daughter and her sister Pippa Middleton really lifted “people’s mood”:

“I think she looked glowing and radiant, and it was lovely to see her looking so relaxed. I’m sure lots of people will have seen how happy she looked and taken reassurance from that. She really is a kind of beacon of hope for many but that also comes with a lot of pressure … On the flip side, she has a whole team of people helping her, and most people don’t have the resources she has, but I do think just her presence can really lift people’s mood.”

Sweet! A very fitting color for the day all-around. We continue to wish Kate the best and hope to see her out again soon.
