We’ve got some wicked good news for you!
It’s been over a year since we last heard about the movie adaptation of Wicked, but we’re happy to report we just got our first official news about the film on Thursday.
Universal Pictures decided to surprise fans out of the blue with an announcement on Twitter this morning, revealing that Wicked: The Movie will be flying into theaters in time for… Christmas 2019!!!
WE HAVE TO WAIT 3.5 YEARS?!?!

While we now have a date to look forward to, there’s still no word on who will be taking over Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth‘s iconic roles.
Although, we think it’s pretty obvious Lea Michele and Kristen Bell were made to play Elphaba and Glinda, respectively!
Lea has more than proven her musical capabilities on years of Glee, and K-Bell has done the same in Disney‘s Frozen AND in live action in Reefer Madness: The Musical.
This could very well be the most anticipated movie musical of all time… so Universal better get started if they wanna be done by December 20, 2019!
