Wisconsin Is Known For Their Cheese, So Why Not De-Ice Their Roads With It??

LOLz! It’s like the punchline of a ridiculous joke about Wisconsin and how they make cheese or something — but we get the feeling they’ll be the ones with the last laugh if they can pull this off!
They’re going to use CHEESE to de-ice their roads!
Well, salty cheese brine to be exact! They’re mixing it with traditional road salt, which is super expensive. Just last year Milwaukee spent about $6 million on that salt alone, and it creates a harmful runoff when the ice melts!
Plus it’s SUPER hard on cars!
So the city has joined a $6,500 pilot project! The science is like this: for every eight gallons of cheese producers’ leftover wastewater, it will be mixed with a ton of rock salt. The best kind of brine comes from provolone and mozzarella, as they don’t need much preparation before hittin’ the ice!
Apparently there has been no negative backlash from this yet — no reports of excess lactose intolerance, or gross smells!
Sounds like an awesome solution to us!
