Lt. Van Buren Is Leaving Law & Order!!

This is really sad!

S. Epatha Merkerson, who has played the badass Lt. Anita Van Buren for sixteen years on Law & Order, is leaving the show at the end of the season!

The actress says:

It’s a graceful way to go. It’s the end of my contract this year, and the storyline has been so perfect. I’ve given it my best for 16 years. It’s time to move on. I’m doing other things and this will be a great way to leave what has been an extraordinary gig.

Although we’re sad to see her go, sixteen years is a LONG time at the same job so if she feels it’s time to call it quits, we can’t blame her!!
