Denise Richards Reveals 7-Year-Old Daughter Eloise Has Special Needs

Denise Richards

Denise Richards has revealed that her daughter seven-year-old Eloise has special needs.
The newest cast member of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills says despite her new gig and long-standing TV and film career, being a mom is her number one priority.
That makes this intimate reveal one that is especially powerful.

For those who don’t remember, the 47-year-old has two children with her ex-husband Charlie Sheen, but she adopted Eloise back in 2011 and raised her as a single parent.
Speaking with People, Denise explains:

“I’m most proud of raising my kids, especially in a time that is very different from how I was raised. It’s extremely hard to keep children grounded. This is not an easy time to grow up.”

Fair point. There’s quite a bit of a generational gap here, to say the least.
According to her momma, Eloise has a rare, chromosomal disorder which “has caused a lot of developmental delays for her.” Richards first noticed something was off when her young daughter wasn’t reaching key milestones other babies were.
The disability has created a bit of a speech impediment, which can be challenging for their family. Richards explains:

“She can only say a handful of words. And there are times when she feels like her age in understanding, and then other times where it feels she’s emotionally 3 years old. It’s been challenging. I’m learning every day because they don’t really have a road map for her particular case.”

Even still, the mother of three is hopeful about Eloise’s future:

“Every child is different. You take care of your children no matter what is going on with them. I don’t know if [Eloise] is ever going to talk like a typical child. But as a parent, you want what’s best for your children, and you just do it.”

As Denise said, every child is different — but every child is absolutely deserving of love. We’re so glad that the little one has a loving family and support system around her.
