Pete Davidson Bails On Comedy Gig Over 'Disrespectful' Comment Made About Ariana Grande & Kate Beckinsale

pete davidson leaves connecticut comedy gig after jokes

Don’t come for Pete Davidson or his exes!!
The Saturday Night Live star left a scheduled show at The Stress Factory Comedy Club in Bridgeport, Connecticut on Monday night after being “disrespected” by the club owner, who mades jokes that weren’t so funny after all.

The 25-year-old apologized in videos posted to his Instagram Story, promising to reschedule at a new location next week:

“Hey guys in Connecticut, I’m sorry that we had to leave the show before I got to go on. The owner, Vinnie Brand disrespected me and did something that I told him not to do, and I can’t perform under those circumstances. However, everybody who got tickets to that show, I am doing a free show for you guys, and we’ll figure out where that’s going to be in the next week, and we’ll you know, we’ll get it all sorted out. Sorry again, this is not your fault. Later.”

An insider shared with Us Weekly that the owner reportedly “went out on stage” despite pushback from Pete who “didn’t want to make the crowd wait longer to see him,” as he already had an opener for the show.
But it seems that the situation was only made more awkward:

“In an obvious attempt to embarrass Pete, [Vinnie] sarcastically said ‘don’t ask any questions about his exes Ariana Grande or Kate Beckinsale.’ [Vinnie] wouldn’t get off stage, and once he made fun of Pete’s dating life, Pete left.”

The confidant also divulged inside info about the comedian:

“Pete was not about to to let this guy ruin his show, disrespect him and abuse the names of women Pete respects and cares about. Pete has been doing great. He’s happy and has been really enjoying traveling and doing shows. It’s sad that people like this club owner would pull a stunt like this just to bring attention to himself and his club. Pete didn’t feel safe in a place owned by someone who would be so disrespectful and dishonest.”

However, Twitter users appear to be split on what actually went down that night:

“Pete Davidson disrespected all the fans who purchased tickets to this show by leaving & refusing to perform for a paying audience. If comedians can dish it out, they should be able to take it in return.”
“Yo the owner of the Stress Factory CT was wild, uncalled for and disrespectful to Pete so I don’t blame him for bouncing, I would’ve too #petedavidson #stressfactoryct”
“I was at the show… What ACTUALLY happened is that the owner came out before the show and asked everyone to put their cell phones away and to be respectful and not mention Ariana Grande or Kate Beckinsale. I guess that was too much for Pete to handle.”

Hmmm…

What do you think, Perezcious readers? Is Pete leaving totally justified, or should he have just brushed it off? Share your thoughts (below) in the comments!!
