Despite crappy reviews and stars like Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot defending their movie, the superhero team up ended up taking in $27.7 million!
If that number doesn’t impress you, then you might be interested to know that Ben Affleck and Cavill’s movie is the seventh-biggest midnight/Thursday debut EVER and has landed in second for biggest superhero movie preview behind The Dark Knight Rises.
As for the overall Thursday record, Dawn of Justice lands behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($57 million), Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone ($43.5m), The Dark Knight Rises ($30.5m), Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part II ($30.4m), Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part I ($30.3m), and Twilight Saga: Eclipse ($30m).
In comparison to other superhero flicks, BvS beat out Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron ($27.6 million from 7 p.m. shows), Avengers ($18.7 million midnight), and Iron Man 3 ($15.6 million 9 p.m. shows) as well as WB’s other superhero flick The Dark Knight ($18.5 million midnight shows).
