A waitress at a Tennessee burger joint was brought to tears at work, and after you find out why you will too.
Claire Hudson served a couple last Sunday at Mac’s Grub Shack.
They ordered a few hot dogs and beers — a typical order. But what they did after the meal was atypical.
To the $28.12 bill, a $36 tip was added. What sparked the act of generosity?
It was explained in a note handwritten on the back of the credit card receipt.
“Today is my brother’s b-day. He would have been 36 today. Every year I go eat his favorite meal (hot dogs) and tip the waitress his age. Happy B-day Wes.”
The patrons’ story made Claire cry. She posted a photo of the receipt on Reddit, where it went viral.
Claire hopes the mysterious tippers will return to the restaurant.
“We want to see what his brother Wes liked on his hot dogs because we’d like to name a hot dog after him.”
She added:
“I have a friend, he was my best friend, he died about three years ago. This experience has definitely given me the idea to do the same thing on his birthday every year. It was deeply moving and just the coolest thing that’s ever happened.”
What a generous gesture on both sides! This gives us the feelz!
