Clothing Specially Designed For People With Down Syndrome

Here’s a creative idea to benefit many with this disorder, a clothing line for people with Down syndrome.
The line, Down Designs, was created by Karen Bowersox from Ohio, the grandmother of a little girl with Down syndrome. Karen decided to start the line back in 2009 when she noticed how difficult it was to find clothing that would properly fit her granddaughter.
Karen’s website states:

“At Downs Designs, we understand that finding clothes to fit a person with Down syndrome appropriately is a daunting task. That is why we have set out to create a line of clothing that is specifically tailored to fit their unique body shape.
Downs Designs is working towards creating a full line of clothing for all ages of people with Down syndrome. This is long process that takes time to develop. We’ve started with a pair of jeans and a simple T shirt.
Our mission is to create affordable, stylish clothing to fit the unique body shape of a person with Down syndrome.
We’ve started with adult size jeans. We’ve also completed a casual long-sleeve shirt. Our children’s jeans and T-shirts should be available by the end of 2011. We will eventually grow into a full line of clothing for all ages.”
