Deaf Campers Are Happy In This Pharrell Inspired Music Video Filled With Incredible Signing!

deaf campers are happy in this pharrell inspired music video
Because they’re Happy!!!
Pharrell‘s infamous song has inspired a lot of people, but these inspired kids are the ones doing the inspiring this time!
The campers over at Deaf Film Camp, which is for two weeks at Camp Mark Seven in upstate New York, decided to make a video where they use sign language to perform the song!
And the happiness that is radiating from these youngsters have us in tears! Happy tears!
Deaf Film Camp’s website explains that the two week program is “for deaf and hard-of-hearing teens looking to pursue a filmmaking career.”
One American Sign Language interpreter named Azora Telford, who helped with the making of the music video, explained the intricacies of the music video and the different backgrounds of the kids who were participating in it.
She said:

“The song is clear and repetitive enough that it allowed us to show the different styles of sign that comes from these kids, with their different backgrounds, coming from mainstream schools to deaf schools, from hearing parents to deaf parents. We all have our unique style, but we├óΓé¼Γäóre all sharing the same message.”

And 13-year-old camper Zahra Chauhan is SO proud of her and her peers’ efforts. She said:

“It’s fascinating that so many people are seeing it. I think there are a lot of deaf kids out there who will see this video and they’re going to realize, ‘Wow, I can do that, too. I can enjoy music and be involved in movies. It just makes me feel really proud.”

We’re proud of everyone involved with this joyous project! Hopefully they’ll be making a sequel to it next summer!
We’ll be looking forward to it!
