How is it possible for one man to come down on the wrong side of literally every issue?
At this point we knew not to get our hopes up too much when Donald Trump announced his “listening session” with people affected by school shootings, but really? Arming teachers?

You’re going to tell a group of survivors and next of kin that MORE GUNS in the classroom is a serious part of your plan??
Watch the horrifying moment and see some of the strongest responses (below):
Trump: “If you had a teacher who was adept at firearms, they could very well end the attack very quickly, and the good thing about a suggestion like that — and we’re going to be looking at it very strongly…but the good thing is you’ll have a lot of [armed] people with that.” pic.twitter.com/wGRSTDK38o

Ugh.
Even candidate Trump knew to steer clear of that!
Crooked Hillary said that I want guns brought into the school classroom. Wrong!

There really is always a tweet…
As for how reasonable people who focus on facts and data instead of “good guy with a gun” fantasies feel about it, well:
Student: We want universal background checks and stricter regulations.
Another student: Also important to outlaw semi-automatic weapons and recoil tools that make guns perform like automatic weapons.
Trump: I hear you. I am going to eliminate gun-free zones and arm teachers

This is really something – Trump’s most enthusiastic proposal, in his “listening session” on school shootings, is: A) encouraging teachers and coaches to carry guns; B) sending a company of armed veterans into schools.

Giving teachers guns is the dumbest fucking idea anyone in this country has ever come up with. The only rational response to “we should give teachers guns” is to say “that is a fucking insane idea, please don├óΓé¼Γäót bring it up again.”

Trump’s proposal during his “listening session” to arm teachers and bring more guns into our schools is beyond preposterous. That’s like saying the solution to lung cancer is to smoke more cigarettes. #ParklandStudentsSpeak

This is standard for Alabama gun permit. If Concealed Carry Reciprocity passes, this would be standard everywhere:
No safety training
Don’t have to be 21
Can be a convicted stalker
Can have DUIs, violence convictions
Can have abused dating partners

7. What if teachers do not want to participate?
8. What if parents do not want their children to attend schools with armed teachers?
9. What about the kids themselves? Does their choice matter?
10. What about the school district’s liability?

Arming teachers may sound good, but is a terrible idea.
Many problems, but just some include:
It increases the chance of kids dying in crossfire, adds to confusion with SWAT teams trying to identify an armed assailant, and greatly increases odds of an accidental shooting.

President Trump says he wants to explore the idea of arming U.S. teachers. Here’s why that’s a bad idea: pic.twitter.com/qHkeJHUV3k

Arm the teachers? What is WRONG with these people at Trump’s listening session?
I was a classroom teacher for 25 years, believe me, teachers who are overworked and underpaid CAN NOT be responsible for solving the enormous gun violence epidemic in America.#ParklandStudentsSpeak

But the best response may have come from inside that room:
“Schoolteachers have more than enough responsibilities right now than to have to have the awesome responsibility of lethal force to take a life,” Mark Barden, father of Sandy Hook victim, says, whose wife is career educator: https://t.co/qLL6Kp8HYo pic.twitter.com/58oubdGhft

You can watch the whole video (below) but make sure to look and see if you notice Trump referring to his fucking crib notes around minute 50:25 reminding him to sound sympathetic:
