We can’t believe it’s been two years since Frozen first hit theaters!
Luckily for us and all you rabid Frozen fans out there, the sequel is DEFINITELY on it’s way to becoming a reality.

In fact, co-directors Chris Buck & Jennifer Lee have already developed a “strong” concept! So exciting!
Chris dished on the sequel’s themes, revealing:
“Jen and I are just getting back into the story room together and throwing ideas around. We have an overall idea, a concept, which I think is a very strong one. I’m very excited about doing it. We have two very strong female leads in Frozen. We will keep that going in the next one. We will tackle other issues that, I think, are out there today that boys and girls, men and women, are dealing with.”
We sure like the sound of that! What makes Frozen such a poignant movie for young people, especially girls, is that it focuses on female empowerment opposed to the pursuit of happily ever after.
Snow Queen Elsa and Princess Anna definitely embody strong female characters!!
Mr. Buck elaborated on this idea, saying:
“I think we’re very aware of what is happening in society. I don’t think any of us take them lightly, even though they can be very funny and entertaining, the messages that our movies have and the influence they can have on young people. When the kids watch them, they watch them over and over again, and if we don’t have a decent message in there, I think we’ve missed an opportunity.”
Beautifully said, Chris! We bet Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel can’t wait to once again lend their voices to the franchise!
As for the release date, we imagine it’s not TOO far away considering the plot has been hashed out. At least we have the Frozen Fever short to tide us over!
