Google Software Engineer Charged With Beating Wife To Death -- Police Found Him 'Spattered In Blood'!

A software engineer for Google has been arrested and charged with the murder of his wife after he was found “spattered” in what police believe was her blood.

According to the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office on Friday, 27-year-old Liren Chen was arrested last week after police came upon a disturbing scene while doing a welfare check. The software engineer lived in Santa Clara with his wife Xuanyi Yu in their home they’d recently purchased in April 2023 — but sadly, their home would soon turn into a crime scene.

Police revealed a friend of the couple became concerned about “a noticeable change” in Chen’s behavior after having dinner with them. According to said friend, the suspect was strangely “quiet and staring blankly for much of the evening”, and this is what prompted them to return the next day to see if he was any better. Upon their return, the friend saw Chen “motionless on his knees, had his hands in the air and was staring blankly” and they immediately knew something wasn’t right.

After trying several times to get the Google engineer to answer the door with no luck, the friend called police and had them come check the scene. First responders were shocked to peek through the window and see the 27-year-old with blood on his jacket and socks, via a report obtained by DailyMail.com. Police report that he didn’t respond to them, either, so they went inside and found even more blood — and tragically, Yu’s lifeless body lying on the floor.

So, so horrifying…

Law enforcement stated Chen had extreme bruising on his right hand, while it appeared Yu had “severe blunt force injuries” on her head. Blood not only was spattered all over her husband, it was also found on the ground, on the back of the door, and on his sandals.

When fire department officials asked what had happened, Chen eerily admitted to the crime with no argument, and said:

“I punched my wife.”

Legal docs speculate poor Yu had died at the hands of her husband, suggesting he had been “striking her in the head repeatedly” at the time of her passing. Gut-wrenching.

The victim was also a software engineer for the same company as her husband. In a statement to People, Google spokesperson Bailey Tomson said:

“We are shocked and deeply saddened by what has happened to Xuanyi. Our thoughts are with her family at this time, and we’re working to provide support to them and to co-workers who are processing this tragic news.”

Meanwhile, Chen remains in custody after his arrest while his arraignment is set for Wednesday.

Such an awful, unthinkable situation. Our hearts go out to the victim’s family and loved ones.
