Grimes Shares A New Way To Pronounce Her Son's Name & A Cute New Video!

more confusion about grimes and elon musk's baby name

Is it just us, or are Elon Musk and Grimes not on the same page about their son’s name??

Following the birth of the couple’s first child together, X Æ A-12, the obvious two questions were 1) what does it mean, and 2) how do you pronounce it? We’ve gotten clarity thanks to the new momma about the name’s origins, but the pronunciation seems to be a bit up in the air.

You’ll recall that the tech entrepreneur appeared on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast just a few days ago, and shared:

“Well, first of all my partner is the one that mostly came up with the name.”

He continued, offering up a step-by-step pronunciation guide:

“I mean it’s just ‘X,’ the letter ‘X.’ And then the Æ is pronounced ‘Ash.'”

Yeah… can’t believe we didn’t get this sooner. LOLz!

As for the last part of the name, that was all him, noting it was his “contribution.” When asked why, the CEO’s face lit up:

“Archangel 12, the precursor to the SR-71. Coolest plane ever.”

However, it doesn’t exactly sound like they’re on the same page about this!

A fan commented on the singer’s latest Instagram post:

“how do you pronounce the baby’s name?”

In reply, Grimes wrote:

“It’s just X, like the letter X. Then A.I. Like how you said the letter A then I.”

Uhh… what? That’s totally different from what Musk had to say…

This comes after the musician shed some light about how they arrived at this interesting name, penning via Twitter:

“•X, the unknown variable ⚔️
•Æ, my elven spelling of Ai (love &/or Artificial intelligence)
•A-12 = precursor to SR-17 (our favorite aircraft). No weapons, no defenses, just speed. Great in battle, but non-violent
+
(A=Archangel, my favorite song)
(⚔️? metal rat)”

But there was actually a disagreement about this, as well! The Tesla founder replied to his baby momma with a correction about their “favorite aircraft!”

“SR-71, but yes”

Oops!!

Hinting at a possible c-section delivery, the 32-year-old hit back:

“I am recovering from surgery and barely alive so may my typos b forgiven but, damnit. That was meant to be profound”

Luckily, we can all agree their baby is very cute!! On her first Mother’s Day, Grimes shared a sweet video of the father-son pair to her IG Story, and he appears to already have a full head of hair! Ch-ch-check out the adorable moment (below):
