Uh oh…
Gwyneth Paltrow‘s at times controversial lifestyle brand Goop is under fire for a new supplement packet aimed at expectant mothers that regulators are now saying contains a dangerously high amount of vitamin A.

The brand’s new Mother Load vitamin supplement packets are targeted toward women trying to get pregnant, or women who are already pregnant, and have been “reported to British regulators over 113 alleged breaches of U.K. advertising law,” according to the Sunday Times.
In a statement to Us Weekly, a Goop spokesperson says that “when used as recommended, Goop’s The Mother Load supplements are safe during pregnancy.” They continued:

“The Mother Load contains a very moderate 450 mcg (1500 IU) of vitamin A (preformed vitamin A as retinyl palmitate), which is less than the recommended daily intake of 600 mcg per day (per NHS). The Mother Load package contains a warning that pregnant women should not consume more than 10,000 IU vitamin A daily due to risk of birth defects.”

Goop has been the center of controversy before, recently paying out $145,000 in a settlement over expensive vaginal eggs, and was blasted last year over an article about weight loss.
Moral of the story? You can’t always trust a celeb brand, and do your research before you take anything!!
