Heidi Klum Is Really Sick -- But Reveals She CAN'T Get A Coronavirus Test In The US!

Heidi Klum Americas Got Talent Coronavirus Test

America’s Got Talent… but it doesn’t have coronavirus testing kits.

The COVID-19 virus is knocking all of show business for a loop, and most recently it’s taken down the popular reality competition show — and possibly judge Heidi Klum. Though honestly we can’t be sure about that.

It all started on Tuesday when reports came out that the supermodel had arrived at the taping but did not take the stage with fellow judges Howie MandelSofia Vergara, and Simon Cowell.

That day the show still had their live studio audience, and at the time the stars explained Heidi’s absence to the gathered fans by saying she likely had food poisoning, with Vergara even joking about having sent her the food. But Heidi didn’t get better; she didn’t show up the next day either. Nor the next — which was also the day AGT suspended their live audience tapings.

On Friday, Heidi finally told fans exactly what was going on — well, as much as she knows. She says it started when she began experiencing “a chill, feeling feverish, cough, runny nose.” Not exactly food poisoning symptoms…

Heidi said she’s taken the precaution of self-quarantining just to be safe:

“Um I’m just not feeling good so that’s why I’ve stayed home to not infect any other people.”

We’re sure germaphobe Howie, who wore a full hazmat suit to the taping on Tuesday, appreciates it. (We’re sure the suit was just a bit — until he saw how sick Heidi was.)

OK, so what about the elephant in the room? Could it be the dreaded coronavirus? Heidi honestly doesn’t know. She explained:

“I hope it’s just a cold, I would love to do the corona test but there just isn’t one here. I’ve tried with two different doctors and I just can’t get one.”

Yep. The US has been so insufficiently prepared that even rich and famous celebrities showing flu-like symptoms can’t get tested.

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson tested positive earlier this week after just feeling “a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches.” So how did they get tested? They were visiting Australia. That’s how.

The lack of testing kits in the US isn’t anecdotal, or just our opinion. During a hearing in the House of Representatives on Thursday, Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases called the response to the virus “a failing.” This came just after the CDC admitted it had only tested 11,000 specimens total — while South Korea is reportedly testing nearly 20,000 PER DAY.

OK, but why??

There is an explanation — and Donald Trump fans are going to call it fake news. But here it is: political reporter Dan Diamond, who has been investigating the administration’s health care policies, spoke to NPR on Thursday, Trump didn’t want more testing done because more positive tests meant a bigger crisis — which would HURT HIM POLITICALLY. Diamond said:

“My understanding is he did not push to do aggressive additional testing in recent weeks, and that’s partly because more testing might have led to more cases being discovered of coronavirus outbreak, and the president had made clear — the lower the numbers on coronavirus, the better for the president, the better for his potential reelection this fall.”

That is mind-blowing. But also… not exactly unbelievable for this president.

Look, we obviously don’t know for sure that’s true. All we know is we don’t have testing available even for people who are symptomatic and WANT to get tested.

So what do we do??

As Heidi says in her video:

“Stay safe everyone, stay home if you don’t feel good”

It’s all we can do right now.
