Good thing Kate Winslet decided to prove this teacher wrong!
The Titanic super star was talking to PEOPLE Magazine this week when she revealed something VERY interesting about her time as a teenager, learning how to act under some not-so-supportive teachers.

The Oscar nominee — who just won a BAFTA Award, too — revealed that she was just 13 years old when a drama teacher told her that weight issues would prevent her from movie stardom:

“[I was told] by a drama teacher that if I continued to be overweight I would really only get a chance to play the cute, fat best friend role or the ugly sister parts. I remember thinking, ‘Oh, you’re so wrong!’ That kind of spurred me on.”

Yeah, no kidding!

The drama teacher wasn’t the only hiccup in Winslet’s career, though — the actress revealed lots of difficulties as a teenager going through preparing for her career:

“I was always the kid at the end of the line because my name began with W, and I always had big feet, and I was always wearing the wrong thing. I remember having a moment where I thought to myself, ‘This is so stupid. This is just a waste of my train fare getting myself into London for auditions.’ I remember thinking to myself, ‘You’ve just got to keep going for it.'”

Life. Lessons!!!
