Kim Cattrall still isn’t playing around!
The longtime TV and film star opened up about her past in a new interview with The Guardian over the weekend, and one of the things she touched on with great interest was her experience turning down a third Sex and the City movie.
Even though it’s been months since scrapping plans for movie #3, it’s clear Cattrall has had to deal with a LOT from those around her for the decision she made.

As you’ll probably recall, last October, Kim turned down the opportunity to film the third installment of the Sex and the City movie franchise. Heartbroken, co-star Sarah Jessica Parker announced plans for the film were officially dashed — and behind the scenes, allegations flew that Cattrall and Parker were at odds over the decision.
Well now, Cattrall is telling more of her side of the story. And to hear her explain it, she really didn’t want to do the third movie! Like, at all!
Cattrall explained to the publication (below):
“I went past the finish line playing Samantha Jones because I loved Sex and the City. It was a blessing in so many ways but after the second movie I’d had enough. I couldn’t understand why they wouldn’t just replace me with another actress instead of wasting time bullying. No means no.”
Wow!!!
We knew Kim felt strongly about her decision when she made it at the time… but this is one hell of a quote! Don’t mess with Samantha Jones, y’all!!!
It’s interesting, though… the apparent ongoing tension between her and Parker hasn’t exactly subsided of late, but in a previous interview with People in February, it appeared Parker had softened some to the whole thing.
The woman who played SATC lead Carrie said at the time:
“I never talked about it, except [to say] that some of us were disappointed [about the movie not happening]. But I never responded to the conversation Kim had with Piers Morgan, where she said things that were really hurtful about me. We had this experience and it was amazing, and nothing will ever be like it. We had a connection with an audience, and we had a connection with the city and with this crew, and we got to tell these crazy stories with each other. So I don’t want to mess with that. I couldn’t imagine anyone else playing that part. So there was no fight; it was completely fabricated, because I actually never responded. And I won’t, because she needed to say what she needed to say, and that is her privilege.”
So… where does this leave us, anyways? There’s definitely not a third movie on the way… this much we know for sure.
