Tough news today for Very Cavallari fans and more as Kristin Cavallari earlier on Sunday announced the shocking news that she and Jay Cutler had decided to get a divorce.
Hours later now, we’re starting to slowly learn more about some of the dynamics at play that brought the (ex) couple to this point, too. And from what it sounds like, there was no shocking cheating scandal or other affair that pushed them apart… just the natural challenges of love and marriage.

The couple, which had been together for nearly a full decade, shares three children — Camden Jack Cutler (7), Jaxon Wyatt Cutler (5) and Saylor James Cutler (4) — so you can be certain no decision here was made in haste. But it sounds like persistent issues within the marriage were to blame for the pair, who would’ve had their seventh wedding anniversary to celebrate in June.
According to an insider who knows the situation here, the estranged husband and wife “had been dealing with marriage issues” for quite some time now. Speaking to E! News about the matter, the source specifically said that “cheating” was NOT a factor in the split, but did add:
“This isn’t out of the blue. They’ve been trying to make it work for a while.”
Very interesting…
Of course as we’ve been reporting, based on the divorce announcement earlier today, Kristin and Jay certainly made things sound fairly amicable in writing (below):
“With great sadness, after 10 years together we have come to a loving conclusion to get a divorce. We have nothing but love and respect for one another and are deeply grateful for the years shared, memories made, and the children we are so proud of. This is just the situation of two people growing apart. We ask everyone to respect our privacy as we navigate this difficult time within our family.”
Here’s hoping that can happen, at least, and a healthy co-parenting situation can come about from here.
Jay and Kristin have openly experienced their marital problems via her reality TV ventures in the past, too, of course. During season 3 of Kristin’s long-time E! reality show, her friend Kelly Henderson was infamously at the center of a series of cheating and affair allegations involving Jay. And while there was nothing to the suspicions, with the retired quarterback strongly denying the accusations, it still shook the marriage for some time.
