Mel Gibson Finds It 'Annoying' When People Bring Up His 2006 Anti-Semitic Rant

It’s SO hard being Mel Gibson…
In an interview with the Playback podcast, Mel spoke out on his 2006 anti-semitic rant that horrified and offended many fans. Apparently the actor thinks people should just forget about the ugly incident because it’s “annoying” when people bring it up.

Hmm… maybe the 60-year-old shouldn’t have said the awful monologue to begin with then? It’s pretty hard to feel sympathy for the director given the cruelty of his words.
For those who are a bit hazy on the details, M.G. famously said that “Jews” were “responsible for all the wars in the world”.
… yup. To say the remark is disgusting is an understatement.
Elaborating on his non-sensical frustrations about being held accountable for his actions, Mel explained:

“It was an unfortunate incident. I was loaded and angry and arrested. I was recorded illegally by an unscrupulous police officer who was never prosecuted for that crime. And then it was made public by him for profit, and by members of ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ we’ll call it the press. So, not fair. I guess as who I am, I’m not allowed to have a nervous breakdown, ever.”

Oh, okay. So Gibson isn’t remorseful for what he said — he’s sorry he got CAUGHT. How noble!
The dad-to-be went on to say:

“Ten years have gone by. I’m feeling good. I’m sober, all of that kind of stuff, and for me it’s a dim thing in the past. But others bring it up, which kind of I find annoying, because I don’t understand why after 10 years it’s any kind of issue. Surely if I was really what they say I was, some kind of hater, there’d be evidence of actions somewhere. There never has been.”

Well, while we’re glad the celeb is sober, we wish he was also more apologetic. “Breakdown” or not, he should still take full responsibility for the hurtful things he said.
Summing up his argument on the scandal, Mel stated:

“I’ve never discriminated against anyone or done anything that sort of supports that reputation. And for one episode in the back of a police car on eight double tequilas to sort of dictate all the work, life’s work and beliefs and everything else that I have and maintain for my life is really unfair.”

Interesting.
