Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus Might Be Getting Urban, But She's Not Copying Nicki Minaj!

miley cyrus new music count step not copying nicki minaj
We could’ve told you that! Her booty might be bountiful, but it’s hardly Nicki Minaj level!
But wait! This has nothing to do with junk in the trunk, but that’s okay because we’re always happy to talk about Miley Cyrus‘ new music!
And her new shizz is exactly that — NEW!
We’ve been enjoying music from the outrageous singer since she was barely a teenager, but oh how she has grown.
Gone are the days of Party in the U.S.A.! Say hello to the days of count-step.
Say what?!
You see, Perezcious readers, Mileybird is not only bringing new music, but she’s bringing a brand new type of music (just in case you haven’t been keeping up)! And she wants you to remember that because she will NOT be boxed into someone else’s description.
Miley recently spoke about her music with Billboard magazine:

“I’ve always wanted country-rock influences, but now I’m moving over to a more urban side. It’s not a hip-hop album, though-it’s a pop album. I’m not coming in trying to rap. It’s more like, I don’t see any girls out there doing what Miguel and Frank Ocean are doing. We’ve been calling it ‘count-step,’ because it’s like country, dubstep and a little trap.”

Sounds like a mix of awesomeness that Miley is going to kill!
And that description is the only box she’s sitting in despite the pretty damn cool comparison she’s been getting. She explained:

“A lot of people wanted to try to make me the white Nicki Minaj. That’s not what I’m trying to do. I love ‘hood’ music, but my talent is as a singer.”

Oooh, is she saying Nicki isn’t a singer?? Did she get that from Mariah Carey?
We kid, we kid!
We know Mileybird totes loves her some Nicki. Helloooo, she dressed up as Nicki for Halloween one year!
But with all this talk about Miley’s adventurous new sound, we are on the edge of our seat waiting for more.
Bring it, gurl!!
