UPDATE 3/11/25 9:10 A.M. PST: Nicolas Cage is off the hook! According to court docs obtained by People on Monday, the actor has been dismissed from his ex-wife Christina Fulton’s lawsuit. Her attorney filed the request for dismissal — and because the allegations were dismissed with prejudice, she won’t be able to pursue them against the actor again. She is still pursuing legal action against her son.

This family drama escalated into another legal issue for a family that has had more than their share. Nicolas Cage‘s ex-wife Christina Fulton is suing both him AND their son.
The 57-year-old filed a lawsuit in the Superior Court of California in Los Angeles County on Wednesday over the alleged assault Weston Cage Coppola inflicted upon her last year. To get you caught up, the 34-year-old was arrested in July 2024 on an assault with a deadly weapon charge three months after allegedly getting into a physical altercation with Christina. At the time, the mother claimed that despite reports, there was “no argument prior to the incident.” He just exploded. She also claimed Weston’s friends reached out to her “for assistance because they were experiencing [him] in a mental-health crisis.”
She explained at the time:
“Upon my arrival, I was met by my son who clearly was in a state of a mental-health breakdown, which in turn became a horrific experience.”
She claimed she “acted swiftly to ensure” Weston’s safety, and that she’d “always supported helping my son with his mental-health struggles. I am doing all I can to get him the continued support he needs.”

Christina later claimed she was “brutally assaulted and sustained serious injuries” in the alleged attack.” After Weston was taken into custody, his dad bailed him right back out. A month later in August, Weston pleaded not guilty to the assault with a deadly weapon charge — and claimed his mother was actually the one who “needs help”!
Yeesh. Such an unfortunate situation all around… But now, Christina is firing back — at both Weston AND Nicolas!
In the lawsuit she filed on Wednesday, obtained by People, the Snake Eyes actress addressed her son’s “long history” of mental health issues and violent assaults, and Nicolas’ lackluster attempts at checking him:
“Weston has a long history of mental and psychological disorder and a history of committing violent assault and battery and harming numerous individuals. Nicolas has been aware of Weston’s history and nevertheless failed to take action to prevent Weston from committing acts of violence and harming others.”
She further claimed Nicolas has bailed Weston out of jail on MULTIPLE occasions, and that he imbibes with him “despite knowing his substance abuse history.” She also claimed the Longlegs star pays for the 34-year-old’s LA condo, which is located next to his own, and that he’s failed to get Weston “necessary psychiatric” help and enables his “reckless” lifestyle:
“Nicolas knew or should have known that Weston posed a serious and imminent danger to others, including Plaintiff, based on his documented history of violent assaults, substance abuse, and mental instability.”
Oof. It sounds like Christina is frustrated by her attempts of straightening out her son’s life being thwarted by Nicolas’ free-for-all-style of parenting…
But can she really sue Nic for enabling his son? In response, the Ghost Rider’s attorney told People:
“The allegations by Christina Fulton against Nicolas Cage are absurd and frivolous.”
