The In Memoriam segment of the Oscars is always heartbreaking.
This year, Meryl Streep opened up the sad tradition with a moving speech — we especially appreciated the poignant quote she chose by the prolific author, Joan Didion.

Obviously in 2015 we lost some greats, like Robin Williams, Mickey Rooney, and Lauren Bacall. While it’s hard to know so many artistic talents are no longer with us, it’s comforting to see them honored in such a special way.
To top off the emotional segment, Jennifer Hudson utilized her amazing pipes to pay tribute to those we’ve lost with I Can’t Let Go.
Our hearts go out to the families and friends of the stars we lost in 2015.
