While you undoubtedly know all the words to OutKast‘s 2000 smash hit Ms. Jackson, far fewer of our Perezcious readers probably know who the song is really about.
Luckily, it’s a small, small world out here in Hollywood… which is why Erykah Badu actually has an update about the IRL Miss Jackson!

As you may know, the 2016 Soul Train Music Awards host just so happens to have a 19-year-old son with Andr├â┬⌐ 3000 — and while they’re mature enough to collaborate nowadays, that wasn’t exactly the case 16 years ago!
Apparently, after their tumultuous breakup, Andr├â┬⌐ (with the help of his partner Big Boi) felt it was necessary to apologize to Erykah’s mom Kolleen Maria Wright (aka Ms. Jackson herself) for how he handled things with her daughter after the birth of his son Seven Sirius Benjamin.
Luckily for Outkast, it doesn’t sound like Kolleen holds a grudge… because Erykah just admitted to Rap Radar late last week that her momma was actually a fan of the song, saying:
“Baby, she bought herself a Ms. Jackson license plate. She had the mug. She had the ink pen. She had the headband — everything. That’s who loved it.”
We’re right there with ya, Kolleen!

As for Erykah herself, on the other hand…
“It hit kind of a sore spot. I didn’t wanna hear that├óΓé¼┬ª [but] when I heard Andre’s verse, I felt very good because his verse was really, really inspiring.”
