Pizza Patron: Order In Spanish, The Pizza Is Free

Pizza Patron Free
Here’s a cool marketing ploy: Pizza Patron, the pizza chain, is offering a free pizza to anyone who orders the pizza in Spanish.
And guess what? All you literally need to say is: “Pizza, por favor!”
Though, you can’t do it quite yet. The promotion is scheduled to take place on June 5th between 5 and 8 p.m.
It’s actually the first of three events of its this year that will be launched in an effort to promote the “positive force of change immigrants have made in communities throughout America.”
Here’s what the brand director is saying:

“Free product promotions have been around for a long time, but I’ve never heard of any company rewarding guests for speaking Spanish. For us, PIZZA POR FAVOR makes great business sense — it is an opportunity for us to strengthen the relationship we have with our core customer.”

Neat right?
Well it’s causing controversy, for no reason at all. People are just acting like idiots. Seriously, here’s even what Peter Thomas, chairman of the Conservative Caucus, has been saying:

“It seems to punish people who can’t speak Spanish, and I resent that. In public areas, people should be speaking English, and that includes pizza parlors.”

First off, how does saying “Pizza, por favor!” punish anyone? Does it punish with simplicity? COME ON.
Secondly, who are you to say what the public should be speaking in public areas? That’s for the public to decide. If they want to speak Spanish, Chinese, Mandarin, Esperanto, etc. THEY CAN, because that’s their RIGHT.
There are people even calling it racist.
That. Makes. No. Sense.
We shouldn’t even have to explain that language doesn’t dictate race, for obvious reasons.
The chain even got DEATH THREATS a few years ago when they started accepting Mexican pesos!
Why would people be so upset by that? You don’t HAVE to use pesos!
This level of intolerance is just stupid. That’s the only word for it, and we can’t believe that people like that seriously exist.
We think this is a FAB promotion, plus there’s free pizza involved.
What’s not to love?
