Prada Japan Hates Ugly Employees

Looks like the Japanese are getting a hard reality check to the ugly side of the fashion industry.

Turns out Prada Japan CEO, Davide Sesia, doesn’t want anyone working at his Prada stores that’s “old, fat, ugly, disgusting or not having the Prada look.”

According to Rina Bovrisse, a senior retail manager for Prada Japan with over 18 years of experience in the international fashion industry, the Prada heads only want good looking employees.

This sounds a bit Abercrombie & Fitch to us.

And last May when Sesia toured 40 of their stores, he asked Bovrisse to “eliminate” about 15 managerial staff that were too ugly. Human resources later notified 13 employees they were being transferred due to “poor sales.”

Sesia then had a meeting with Bovrisse where he reportedly wanted her to “change her hairstyle, to lose weight” because he was “ashamed of Ms Bovrisse’s ugliness” and didn’t want Italian visitors to see her.

Later in November, the company placed her on involuntary leave and that’s when she started her lawsuit the following month.

Sad that it took her getting fired to sue. She should have spoken up or sued when the douche asked her to fire the “ugly and old” staff members.
