Awww…this is both so sad and so sweet…
Jessie’s Girl singer Rick Springfield revealed that his latest tattoo has a bit more meaning than other tats.
Springfield tatted a hawk on his shoulder after he found one stuck in his chimney. He believes the bird of prey was his late pit bull/Great Dane mix, Ronnie‘s, spirit.
Ronnie appeared on the album cover of Springfield’s Working Class Dog, so you can tell his pooch means A LOT to him.
Springfield explains why he believes the hawk is connected to Ronnie:
I put [Ronnie’s] ashes on the top of the fireplace and I heard this noise in the fireplace and got a flashlight and there was a baby hawk caught in the ashes of the fireplace. I called animal control and he came and pulled this hawk out.
Ronnie had been dead for two days and it turns out the hawk was in there for the same time. The officer let the hawk go and it released something in me, so that’s why I have a hawk on my shoulder.
The dog passed away in 1994 but now, Ronnie will always have a place in Rick’s heart and shoulder!
