Royal Family Reportedly 'Disappointed' By Prince Harry & Meghan Markle's Decision To Ditch Holiday Festivities!

Queen Elizabeth disappointed in Harry and Meghan

Turns out, the royal family apparently isn’t thrilled that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are ditching them on Christmas!

As we reported earlier this year, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and their 7-month-old son Archie will be spending the holiday with Meg’s mother, Doria Ragland. Queen Elizabeth II was said to have given the couple her blessing to skip the royal Christmas traditions — publicly, at least.

Behind closed doors, however, some of the royal fam are apparently less than pleased. According to ET’s royal insider, quite a few family members are “disappointed” that Harry and Meg will not be joining the annual holiday gathering.

Needless to say, many members of the family are expected to be in attendance at Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, England — where the royal Christmastime festivities take place — including including Prince Philip, Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their three children.

Apparently, some family members think it’s extra rude for Harry and Meg to ditch the royal Christmas this year, seeing as the Queen and Philip won’t be around for many more Chirstmases!

The insider added:

“Some members of the family think the couple should have considered queen and Prince Philip’s advancing age.”

The source added that while everyone in the family acknowledges Harry and Meg are “entitled to a break,” they could have instead taken a vacay before the holidays and still have made it back in time to spend Christmas with Harry’s grandparents:

“After all, at 93 and it being Archie’s first Christmas, neither Her Majesty the Queen nor Prince Philip will be around forever.”

Royal grandparents: they’re just like your grandparents and love to guilt trip!

But there might be a good reason for it: on Friday, Prince Philip was transferred to a London hospital as a “precautionary measure” for a “preexisting condition.” However, reporters noted that the 98-year-old walked into the hospital on his own and is expected out in a few days.

The couple previously announced their decision to spend the holiday away from the royal family in a statement from Buckingham Palace which read:

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are looking forward to extended family time towards the end of this month. Having spent the last two Christmases at Sandringham, Their Royal Highnesses will spend the holiday this year, as a new family, with the Duchess’ mother Doria Ragland. This decision is in line with precedent set previously by other members of the Royal Family, and has the support of Her Majesty The Queen.”

Although there is definitely unrest within the brood over Harry and Meg’s decision, a second source told ET last month that many members of the family support their holiday plans.
