Russell Brand Talks 'Heartbreak' After Katy Perry Pregnancy News!

Russell Brand Instagram Heartbreak Katy Perry Pregnancy

The news of Katy Perry being pregnant with Orlando Bloom‘s baby certainly caught us off guard, but in a very pleasant way. Maybe that’s not the case for everyone?

We got a hint of how Orlando’s ex — and indeed other baby momma — Miranda Kerr felt about the big news on Thursday, as she gave her blessing on social media.

Meanwhile on the other side was Katy’s ex-husband, Russell Brand, who didn’t directly address the pregnancy but instead went on a diatribe in a video on Instagram he titled “How I Got Over Heartbreak.”

Yeesh, really? Is he trying to say he’s heartbroken again over the news Katy, which whom he was married from 2010 to 2012, is having another man’s baby??

It was actually unclear what spurred on the confessional video, which Brand captioned:

Healing From A Broken Heart

Has your heart ever been broken?

Instead the comedian spoke about heartbreak very generally, saying:

“I’ve experienced heartbreak most of my life. Now I’m in my 40s so I can look back at heartbreak when I was 15, heartbreak when I was 12, heartbreak when I was 11, heartbreak in my 20s and 30s. You know sort of right into like until when I got married. Just getting my heart broken again and again.”

In his typical way, the infamous Brit spoke extremely eloquently about his bad behavior without ever really making amends for it. He seemed to blame his drug and alcohol abuse (and even his cheating maybe?) on feelings of restlessness:

“I reckon in my case it was because I like to be in the outside. I’m by default [going to turn] to drug addiction and alcoholism. I’m not good at sitting with myself.”

He then spoke about falling in love with a woman while being on the road — but again didn’t specify when that was or if he was, you know, married to someone else at the time.

Instead he frankly romanticized the whole idea, saying:

“I know I have a reputation for being promiscuous and I was a promiscuous person but, also, I used to really fall in love with people.”

He did at least condemn cheating, in a way, by supposing if he were married for decades and his partner cheated it would feel like a “kind of death.” He did NOT refer to Katy specifically or what caused the downfall of that marriage.

In fact, he very rarely speaks about his most famous ex, though recently when asked about her in an audience Q&A, he reportedly called her a “lovely human being” but said nothing more on the subject.

Instead of talking specifics, Russell actually got even more general about the subject of heartbreak, saying:

“I suppose when I think of the word heartbreak, I imagine it being a kind of temporary experience that’s due to an illusionary projection of spiritual feelings onto [an object].”

Yeah, man, like love and marriage are just, like, illusions, man. So if you think about it, there’s no such thing as cheating, really. *eye roll*

Brand concludes:

“The real heartbreaking thing is that you’ll probably continue experience heartbreak unless you alter your patterns and habits and examine the reason why you continually, or just in this instance are experiencing it.”

Well, we certainly hope Russell has altered his habits with his current wife and baby momma, Laura Gallacher. Goodness knows he’s talked about it enough.

Do YOU think the heartbreak talk was inspired by Katy Perry’s baby news? Or just an awkward coincidence??
