Sam Hunt Was Partying, 'Making Sure Everyone Had A Good Time' In Hours Leading Up To DUI Arrest

Sam Hunt DUI Arrest Details

It sure sounds like Sam Hunt knows how to have a good time.

Unfortunately, he’s also now the recipient of a DUI arrest, as we reported on Thursday. And while the Nashville arrest itself was pretty straightforward, the country music star is lucky he didn’t hurt himself — or somebody else — after making the remarkably bad decision to get in the driver’s seat after allegedly drinking.

A source spoke exclusively to E! News about the hours leading up to Hunt’s eventual DUI, revealing the Body Like A Back Road singer was busy spending his time at The Ainsworth with a group of friends. During what should’ve been a fun night out, then, Hunt busied himself early on with pepping up the place, buying drinks for strangers, and generally trying to get everybody to have a good time.

The insider dished (below):

“A lot of people at the restaurant knew who he was. He was very nice and was buying drinks for people in the restaurant [and] bar. Sam was making sure everyone had a good time.”

Fun!!!

Guess that’s the kind of thing you have to do when you’ve hit it big in Nashville, and you’re the country music superstar out and about on the town with all eyes on you.

At some point before midnight, then, Hunt and his pals left The Ainsworth and reportedly got into an Uber, where they were ferried off to another bar called the Tin Roof.

Things must have gotten sideways during the night at that establishment, then, because the next time we heard from the 34-year-old singer, he was being booked into the Metro-Davidson County Detention Facility at about 6:00 a.m. on Thursday morning. Yeah…

Why no Uber?!

If it’s true as reported that Hunt and his buddies first took an Uber from The Ainsworth to Tin Roof around 11:30 p.m., why didn’t they place another call later in the night to get home? It’s not like they were averse to using ride-sharing apps if they’d just hopped in one hours before, right?! And the country crooner is a hit right now, so it’s not like a couple of bucks for a ride home would’ve put him out.

Whatever the case, when he was pulled over while driving the wrong way down a street, cops noted “there was an obvious odor consistent with alcoholic beverage” coming from inside his car, and the singer had “red bloodshot and watery eyes,” according to the police report filed. Not great, Sam…

The Break Up In A Small Town singer is due back in court next in January 2020. Nothing like starting the new year off with a court date… but hopefully, he’s learned his lesson and won’t ever do THAT again.

What do U think, Perezcious readers? How did it ever come to this? Why no Uber?! Sam’s lucky he didn’t kill anybody, and he’ll move on fine from this eventually, but, like, come on!!!
