Local News Reporter Discovers She Has Cancer After A Viewer Spotted A Symptom On Live TV!

A news journalist is alive after an eagle eyed viewer noticed a concerning lump on her neck!

What an unbelievable story!

Victoria Price, an on-air journalist and reporter with WFLA News in Tampa, Florida shared an unbelievable story with the world on Thursday. While tirelessly covering the coronavirus pandemic for the past few months, Price neglected to completely prioritize her own health — and was jarred back to reality when a viewer of one of her live news hits pointed out something deadly.

Last month, Price received an email from a viewer alerting the young woman to a visible lump on her neck, and encouraging her to check it out with a doctor. The TV personality explained the ordeal in an Instagram post to her personal page that has since gone viral, writing in part (below):

“As a journalist, it’s been full throttle since the pandemic began. Never-ending shifts in a never-ending news cycle. Adjusting to remote workflows and in my case, taking on a new investigative role. We were covering the most important health story in a century, but my own health was the farthest thing from my mind. Until a viewer emailed me last month. She saw a lump on my neck. Said it reminded her of her own. Hers was cancer. Turns out, mine is too.”

OMG!!!

The young woman then revealed that because of the viewer’s eagle-eyed attentiveness, she’s going in on Monday for surgery to remove the cancerous tumor, as well as her thyroid gland and several impacted lymph nodes. As Price herself notes in the message, doctors are “hopeful” that such early (and unique!) detection will prove life-saving.

The reporter continued with her message, looking at the bigger picture surrounding this medical miracle:

“Had I never received that email, I never would have called my doctor. The cancer would have continued to spread. It’s a scary and humbling thought. I will forever be thankful to the woman who went out of her way to email me, a total stranger. She had zero obligation to, but she did anyway. Talk about being on your side, huh? The world is a tough place these days. Don’t forget to take care of yourself. Take care of each other.”

Amen to that! We are getting teary-eyed up in here, for real!

Below, read Price’s full message along with a set of pics, including a screenshot of the exact email she received that may have just given her decades more of life ahead:

So unbelievable.

And inspiring, too! Thank goodness for good people like that viewer… we need more people like that in this world!

This Wasn’t The First Time…

Ready for this story to get a little bit crazier? This isn’t even the first time an eagle-eyed viewer has noticed something amiss with a television personality’s thyroid!

Back in 2015, a nurse named Ryan Read was watching a marathon day of HGTV‘s hit show Flip or Flop when she noticed something seriously concerning with star Tarek El Moussa‘s neck. Alarmed (and trained by her day job!), she wrote a letter to the show’s production company asking them to get El Moussa to a doctor immediately.

Sure enough, it was the beginnings of thyroid cancer, but Read’s quick-thinking action allowed El Moussa the time to have surgery and end up with a completely clean bill of health, though with some other unrelated complications at play, as well.

Now, Tarek is completely healthy again — just as we genuinely hope Victoria will be before too long, too! And to think… looming tragedy was averted simply when somebody watching TV decided to pay a little bit closer attention. Amazing!
