Rumor control on New York magazine article

Seriously! Here we go again! Cant believe I actually have to write this… this is just not a good week for me press wise… what did i do?!

So here goes… for those that read the New York mag article… I said none of those negative quotes! I expect bloggers to print fake things and its all in fun.. but when a real journalist misquotes me and prints fake quotes that I "said".. that is just crazy!! And, I dont think legally they can do that! Can they? This dumb reporter just put words in my mouth and turned everything I said into a negative. I told her I love NY and I will probably be doing the bi-coastal thing now because I love it so much. I told her the first few apts I looked at were pieces of crap and the owners had no style at all… that turned into "Lance thinks New Yorkers have no style!" Then I told her I eat at Justins new place all the time, but it is really far away in the upper east side and always full of a college crowd. She turned that into " Lance doesnt go to Justins restaurant cause its too far away and he doesnt like it because he is not in college anymore!" Um.. I didnt go to college, why the hell would I say that!

This girl should be working for the enquirer instead of a legit magazine!

If there ever was a need for a retraction this would be it– and hope NY Magazine will do the right thing and write one.

I am no longer going to defend myself on articles such as these. But, I felt I had to because I just moved to this amazing city and feel so at home.I do NOT want anyone here to think I hate it.

If you would like to write a nice little letter to the writer of the article her name is Jada Yuan and she works for New York magazine.

On a lighter note– went to the US Open today and watched Federer kick some ass and Spain's Fernando Verdasco had the most amazing nail biting comeback I have ever seen!!!! He won in the 5th set."

Lance Bass Hates New York City

mx0032502.jpg

This item from New York magazine speaks for itself.

Lance Bass is here for a few months to star as Corny Collins in Hairspray. He’s not sure he likes New York so much. First off, it took three weeks, and three brokers, to find an apartment. “There’s a lot of pieces of crap here for a lot of money,” he says. “And I don’t think anyone here has any style. I was looking at fully furnished places and it was like, you can either have a bunch of floral prints or some dusty couch from the 1960s.” But he’s adapting. “My walking pace has picked up a lot,” he says. “And apparently I’m ruder. I read that someone met me at a club and told me I looked great and I was like, ‘Don’t even think about taking a picture.’ Which really sounds like me. And then they printed a picture they’d taken of me, which makes even less sense.” He’s not hanging out at fellow ’N Sync alum Justin Timberlake’s barbecue joint. “I’ve been a few times,” he says. “But it’s really up there. The Upper East Side? I’m not in college anymore.” And, after coming out of the closet not so long ago, he has another startling admission to make: “I was the worst dancer in the band. I kind of hate to dance.”

"Hey Perez,

I just saw your latest posting about Lance Bass. What
a jerk! On top of that, what a liar in that myspace
posting. My friend, my sister and I went to see
Hairspray on Lance's second night in the show and get
this, he had security escort him straight to a limo
after the show. He only signed a few autographs and
wouldn't take photos with any of the fans waiting
outside of the show. This was only his SECOND night on
broadway. We were so disappointed.
Every other "celeb"
in the show was very gracious and signed autographs
and took photos with ALL of the fans awaiting them.
(Including Ashley Parker Angel, Paul Vogt from Mad TV,
Jerry Matthers aka Beaver from Leave it to Beaver, and
a girl that was in 3LW.) He was seriously such an ass.
He could see we were all obviously disappointed and he
basically just shrugged his shoulders. He didn't
apologize to anyone or try to make amends. Keep in
mind this was a sold out show where even nose bleed
seats were $75. On top of that, he really wasn't all
that great in the show. I remember him being a much
better singer/ showing much more charisma back in the
NSYNC days. Who knows… maybe he's been confusing
himself for Justin Timberlake. FYI Lance, you're not
that great! I attached one of the few pics I could get
of him, I know that it sucks, but he really dashed out
of there. It really left a bad taste in my mouth,
along with all of the other "fans" of his that were
there that night."

Pretty sure the smart ones know this by now, but, that never happened. I couldnt be mean to anyone and go waaaaaay out of my way to make everyone happy. So this guy obviously wanted attention , and i guess he got it. Congrats!

Love when "journalists" get their facts first! lol"

"Hi hon.

Just thought I would share our inside lingo with you. I just read your site on how Lance Bass was an ass to another one of your readers. I wrote you a while back before Lance came out to let you know we had seen him at a bar in Nashville. When I asked if I could take a picture with him, he said 'not tonight' and totally turned around with his back to me. Now when my friends and I are out and see a celebrity, we're always a little shy to ask if we can take a pic and lovingly refer to the possibility of getting shunned as 'getting Lance Bassed'. Thought you would enjoy our new verb :) .

Hope you're doing well!!

"Hey Perez,

Have I got a story for you! So last night (Sunday I was out at NYC's HIRO. It's notorious for always having celebs there and last night was no different. So me and my friend Steven are dancing on the main floor and his boyfriend Tom comes running to us and says "OMG! Lance Bass is up stairs at the bar" so of course I had to see for myself. So we walk up stairs and there he is (I must say he is much hotter in person). So I get the courage to walk up to him and I tap his shoulder and say "hi lance you look great!"

Mr. Cunty Bass looks and rolls his eyes, he says "If you're gonna try to get a picture don't even think about it" A hot guy who he was all over says "Lance you don't have to be so rude" and Cunty Bass says "Oh whatever". I'll admit I was going to ask for a photo but just for my personal collection, but the moment he said that it was war.

PerezHilton instantly entered my head. So I walked away as if I was going to drop it, but then I followed them and as soon as Cunty Bass turned around I lifted my camera zoomed in and got a shot. Lance tried to lean away once he saw the flashes but I got his ass! I heard him say "FUCK he got me!", so I just dipped through the crowd to get away.

PS: I'm sending you the photo of Lance for proof ."

Lance Bass is getting political!

The former boybander is talking gay marriage in this post on LOGO's Visible Vote website.

Says Princess Frostylocks:

"In the upcoming election my hope is that we find a leader who has the ability to understand, work with and effectively negotiate with other world leaders as well as fix the severe problems we face at home. The United States needs to maintain its ability to be the most admired, respected and powerful nation in the world.

There are so many important issues at stake in this election, it’s difficult to pinpoint just one that’s the most important to me. I am very concerned about the environment, the ongoing war in Iraq, health care (especially the future of stem cell research) and many other domestic issues.

However, since the upcoming Democratic debate will focus on LGBT issues, I’d like to discuss my feelings on why gay marriage is an important issue to me and why I think it should be supported by all the Democratic candidates.

Bill Clinton promoted tolerance and acceptance of the LGBT community. He appointed the first openly gay senior level officials to the White House staff and fought for equal rights for LGBT Americans. His attitude and policies helped to lift the veil of shame that so many LGBT individuals have felt all their lives and helped pave the way for millions of LGBT Americans to begin to fight for equal rights.

Over the years, the amazing progress the LGBT community has made has started to crumble. Many politicians have said that allowing gay marriage would somehow threaten the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman, essentially saying that allowing gay people to marry tarnishes the institution of marriage. The underlying message is that gay people should be treated differently, aren’t worthy enough to share the title of marriage, and that the love shared between gay couples is somehow less than the love between straight couples.

My main fear is for the LGBT youth in America and around the world who, for one reason or another aren’t able to cope or can’t escape their prejudice cities, towns and communities. I often wonder how many teens have committed suicide because they’re struggling with their sexuality and feel the incredible weight of the shame their community puts on homosexuality? I am hoping in this election we have Democratic candidates who feel as passionately about this issue as I do.

By not supporting gay marriage we are teaching our youth that gays aren’t equal to straight people. We are teaching them that what they feel is wrong. What a terrible message to send to impressionable children and potentially devastating message to all the LGBT youth who may be living in an isolated environment struggling with being gay and feeling they have no hope and no one to turn to.

I understand this issue isn’t going to win an election for the Democrats and may even cost votes, but supporting gay marriage is the right thing to do. I think that the Democratic Party needs to rise above the past and help all people have the right to marry whomever they choose. I want to live in a place where no one has to feel ashamed of who they are, who they choose to spend their life with and a place where everyone can make the choice if they would like to get married. Now is the time for our Democratic candidates to stand strong and fight for what’s right."

Happy Anniversary!!!!!….

TO ME!!!!!!!

So it was a year ago that I decided to let the world know who I really am… and I swear it has been the most amazing experience. Scary at times , but in the end the best thing I have ever done. I want to thank everyone that has been so supportive and showing that this world has and will continue to change in the right direction. With the election coming up, it is even more important that we stand up for what we believe in and be heard. Enviroment, war, civil rights, education…. the list goes on and on. I encourage everyone to learn more this year about ALL the issues that need attention. Some of you will actively be heard and support some issues, and others will just be educated— in the end all that matters is we all are going to have a hand in changing this world for the better!

Also as an Anniversary gift for me …think about doing this….

If you are having trouble being yourself , and are scared to tell someone you are gay— find that loyal friend, family member, or even hotline and tell someone. All it takes is to tell one person and the ball starts rolling. You will get great advice and and be so much happier. Or, if you have always wanted to ask that family member or friend if they were gay.. do it now…. in a very positive and private way , tell them it is ok and you will always be there no matter what. Sometimes its easier for someone to just flat out ask you. To bulid the courage to say it sometimes takes years.

It's 2007 people , there is no reason we should not be exactly who we want to be- sexual preference, profession, religion, etc. Just respect the fact that everyone is different and live your own lives the way you want! It's good to be alive and we can do and achieve anything we want!

So go do something positive, nice, fun, or just laugh… it doesnt affect just you .. it catches on!

Have a good one!! LB
