Selena Gutierrez is speaking out after Sean Garinger’s death.
Last week, tragedy struck the 16 & Pregnant community as 20-year-old Sean was killed in a freak ATV accident. The young man was taken far too soon, leaving behind young daughters Dareli, 3, and Esmi, 19 months, whom he shared with Selena… And in the time since, it sounds like the young mother has been struggling to come to terms with the harsh reality.

Though she and Sean were no longer together as a couple, she told DailyMail.com on Tuesday the late MTV star had more recently gotten himself on the right track:
“Me and Sean weren’t on the best of best terms but we had finally got on with our lives. We never really talked one on one, it was always through my sisters or his mom and he was doing better. He was over 200 days sober.”
Luckily, she said, Sean had just come from North Carolina to visit their daughters in Colorado:
“He had just come to visit the girls a week prior. I know from what his mom said he was happier than ever to see them. The girls loved him. He was planning to come back and see them on his own. I know he was in school. He had got out of rehab and moved with his mom to Carolina. My heart aches for her.”
So, so sad. Last week when Sean’s mom Mary Hobbs announced the devastating news, she said:
“There was a huge part of my heart that died with my son on Wednesday. He was my only son, my rock, my strength when I had none left.”
Absolutely heartbreaking. Selena added:
“I wish we had got to have one more good conversation about everything.”
She recalled being in disbelief when her sister informed her of his death:
“She just looked at me and said ‘Sean’s gone.’ I was like ‘What do you mean?’ She said ‘Sean’s dead.’ I remember just being in shock saying ‘No way, you’re lying.’ She was like ‘No, [Sean’s mom] just called me.’”
While the two may have had their differences, the mother of two says she’s “crushed” by the tragedy:
“No matter the circumstances that was my kids’ father. Not only was I with him for nine plus years, he was my first love, my first everything and we had two beautiful daughters that I’ll always be grateful for. They didn’t deserve this they need their daddy. I don’t know how I’m going to tell them when they get older.”
So, so sad.
