This pup brings a whole new meaning to the phrase, ‘pet allergy.’
Robin Herman runs a pet rescue shelter in Indianapolis, Indiana, and was perplexed as to why one of her new intakes was exhibiting signs of irritation on his skin.
Well, as it turns out, Adam, the black lab puppy, was born with an unusual trait; he’s allergic to human dander!
Robin had given him grade A dog food, treated him to all of his shots and vaccinations, and kept good care of him, so when he was still sick, she took him to a vet who diagnosed his condition.
While it’s usually humans who are allergic to pet dander, Robin spoke to ABC 7 News about the role reversal, saying:
“The vet seems to think that we can fix him. They just put a serum together, just like with kids’ allergies and other dogs’ allergies, and he starts on allergy shots this week.”
That’s good news!

Hopefully the serum takes as soon as possible and Adam can get straight on to being someone’s best friend!
Robin says that, aside from his allergy, Adam is a healthy and energetic Labrador puppy, so we hope he finds his forever home really soon.
