Although Blake Shelton is obviously very happy with his new love Gwen Stefani, the country crooner admits to going through some pretty dark days following his split from his wife of four years, Miranda Lambert.

The 39-year-old If I’m Honest singer opened up to People about the trying time:
“This time last year, there was no light at the end of the tunnel for me personally. There was a point there where I thought I didn’t even want to exist anymore. I told people I wished I could go into a coma and wake up a year from now.”
Sad!
As we know, shortly after the divorce, Blake and Gwen’s romance sparked during their time on The Voice as they each recovered from similar situations:
“Here we are a year from now, and [look at] the way things have turned out and how crazy life is sometimes. You never know who’s in your life that can save your life, and I found that out.”
Crazy how so much can change in a short amount of time!
