We’ve already seen TONS of celebs slam Donald Trump for calling Meryl Streep “over-rated” after her AH-Mazing Golden Globes speech — and now Trevor Noah wants to get in on the conversation!
While Stephen Colbert and Seth Meyers chimed in with their takes defending Streep, Noah had a slightly more controversial view during Monday night’s episode… because although he understands where Meryl was coming from, he thinks she went about it all wrong!
Video: Wendy Williams Weighs In On Meryl & Donald’s Golden Globes Feud
The Daily Show host started off his Globes recap by talking about that whole Hidden Figures/Fences mix-up before sharing his take on Meryl’s speech, saying:
“I understand what Meryl Streep was trying to do, and I don’t know if I could’ve done better in that moment, but here’s the thing I feel like we could all learn as people. You don’t have to make your point by sh*tting on someone else’s thing, because a lot of people love football and the arts.”
That is a good point…
However, Trevor made sure to praise the overall great message that Miz Streep was sending, adding:
“It was a speech about respect, it was a speech about empathy, and most importantly it was a speech about responsibility.”
And that’s why she’s our queen!
