The official cause of death for Dana Carvey’s eldest son, Dex, has been revealed.
According to TMZ on Tuesday, the L.A. County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the 32-year-old died from a combination of fentanyl, ketamine, and cocaine toxicity. The manner of death was listed as accidental. So, so devastating…

The report confirms what his parents revealed to fans two months ago. Perezcious readers will recall the outlet reported that Dex’s girlfriend called 911 from a residence in Los Angeles in November. When first responders arrived at the home, he was locked in a bathroom. They soon found him unresponsive inside. While paramedics tried reviving him, their efforts were to no avail. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Dana and his wife Paula Carvey then shared in a joint statement on social media that Dex suffered from an “accidental drug overdose,” adding:
“Dex packed a lot into those 32 years. He was extremely talented at so many things – music, art, film making, comedy – and pursued all of them passionately. It’s not an exaggeration to say that Dex loved life. And when you were with him, you loved life too. He made everything fun. But most of all, he loved his family, his friends and his girlfriend, Kaylee. Dex was a beautiful person. His handmade birthday cards are a treasure. We will miss him forever. To anyone struggling with addiction or who loves someone struggling with addiction, you are in our hearts and prayers.”
