Channing Tatum Has Found A Director For His X-Men Spinoff Movie -- Gambit! Find Out Who The Director Is HERE!

After having a screenplay ready to go, written by Josh Zetumer, Channing Tatum has finally found a director who was willing to take on his Gambit movie!

After rumors that several high-profile directors were approached regarding the superhero spinoff and turned it down, English director Rupert Wyatt has been tapped for the solo X-men movie, Gambit, which will star Tatum as the titular hero.
Wyatt is probably best known for giving new life to The Planet of the Apes franchise by directing the 2011 hit, Rise of the Planet of the Apes! He most recently directed The Gambler, starring Mark Wahlberg, which will tie into Gambit’s character quite nicely.
Gambit, also known as Remy LeBeua, is a mutant in the X-men universe who’s relatively new, as his first appearance was in 1990. Though he eventually joins the X-men team in the comics, he’s also known for his solo adventures. Remy, who’s a cajun from Louisiana, has the power to mentally create and control kinetic energy at will. On top of this, he’s quite the card shark and very skilled in card-throwing, and very good at hand to hand combat in which he quite often uses a staff. Gambit uses a combination of his kinetic energy and his card-throwing skills to use the cards as projectile explosives!
Gambit’s character has only made one on-screen appearance in 2009’s AWFUL X-Men Origins: Wolverine, played by Taylor Kitsch. Tatum seems to be quite optimistic about the film though, as he talked about the first draft in an interview and went on to discuss his connection to the role:

“I love Gambit. I grew up in the South; my father’s from Louisiana. We’d go to New Orleans and I heard all the dialects. It felt so different from the rest of America; it has its own ancient culture. So I identified with that. And he always felt the most real of the X-Men to me. He’s kind of a tortured soul and he’s not a good guy. But he’s not a bad guy, either. He walks his own path. And of course he plays cards and drinks and is a martial-arts badass!”

We’d watch Channing in just about anything, TBH! But we’re stoked to see him trying to save the day! But first, we’re definitely going to check him out, check out his upcoming stripper sequel Magic Mike XXL, opening July 1st!
