Uh Oh! Gel Manicures Could Cause Cancer

gel manicure
When you put your hands under those UV lights to dry your amazing gel nails, you could potentially set yourself up for cancer!
Turns out, the time required to set the gel (10 minutes) is longer than the standard mani’s time and that kind of exposure to UV radiation could potentially be dangerous.
According to a 2009 medical journal, two cases of women developing skin cancer are believed to have been caused by nail lamps.
Like tanning lamps, long-term exposure to the nail lamps could damage skin cells. And that’s definitely a beauty no-no!
So next time U decided to get a fabulous, long-lasting gel-icure, make sure U slather on some SPF before U go in!
