Green Day, Joan Jett And MORE Joining The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Next Year!

no title
Being inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is like winning a combo Grammy/Oscar and getting a high five from Elvis‘ ghost all at the same time.
So we can’t even begin to imagine how 2015’s inductee are feeling!
Who made the cut for next year?
Green Day, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Lou Reed, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble, and Bill Withers and the Paul Butterfield Blues Band!
Wow, that’s amazing! An artist is only eligible for the Hall of Fame 25 years after the release of their first album or single.
Green Day’s debut EP 1,000 Hours came out in 1989, so this is their first year of eligibility! They totally NEEDED to be in the Hall of Fame asap it seems! Their frontman Billie Joe Armstrong said:

“I had to go for a walk when I heard the news. We’re in incredible company and I’m still trying to make sense of this. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has always held something special for me because my heroes were in there. This is a great time for us to sort of reflect and look back with gratitude.”

We’re grateful for all the years of amazing music, Billie!
Joan Jett was just as flabbergasted as Green Day’s Billie Joe! She said:

“It’s surreal and very humbling. It’s a culmination of all you’ve dreamed about doing as a musician. I’ve always been hopeful [that I’d get in] because I think it’s an incredible acknowledgment. I’m very proud to be with all these great musicians. It’s going to take a few minutes to sink in before I see how I really feel about it.”

Even Ringo Starr, former Beatle, is being honored with the Award For Musical Excellence, so he can finally join his Beatle brothers in the Hall of Fame, since they each entered as solo artists before him.
The induction ceremony will be held at Cleveland’s Public Hall on April 18th, 2015 and it’s open to everyone so get your tickets now!
